Description: Located just off Hidden Acres Rd in the Catletts Creek area of Boyd County. Terrain and difficulty are easy. Here you will find the grave of a confederate soldier named Samuel Rice. He served with Co K., of the 5th Virginia Infantry. He grew up in what is now West Virginia and moved to Catlettsburg, KY with his family when he was young. After the start of the Civil War, he went over to Kenova, VA (now WV) and joined the Confederate Army. He fought in several battles and was captured. He was sent to a prison camp in Baltimore, Maryland, where he stayed til the end of the war. He returned to settle in the Catletts Creek area and raised his family. Many of his descendents are buried here and some still live just down the hill from this cemetery. And BTW, he is my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather on my mother's (maiden name is Rice) side.
