Description: I was wandering around downtown Buffalo, N.Y. during down time at the 2005 Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball tourney, snapping pics of statues, memorials and historical plaques for "shutterspots" to be listed on the gpsgames.org website. I was so impressed with the Police Memorial, that I decided it needed to be a virtual cache.
I couldn't place this cache without a shoutout to my daugther Fleece's Gus Macker team, the Bubblegum Skittles, who easily breezed through their bracket, and won first place. Whoever said Catholic Schoolgirls couldn't ball?
This cache is also dedicated to my late father, who was a 25 year veteran of the Tonawanda, N.Y. Police Department.
To score a find for this virtual cache, you must email the answers to the questions listed below. Please contact me via the gpsgames.org "email a user" feature.
- Identify the date that the memorial was dedicated; found on the inscription that begins "In honor of those...."
- If you were to think of the memorial as a large hockey puck, how many names are inscribed on the sides of the puck?
- Identify the last name of the only officer on the memorial whose first name is Orville.
- Identify the address of the building directly across the street from the memorial (prominently displayed on the outside of the building).
