Description:
The IP is easy to get too but the last 30 feet require a little bit of bushwacking. You can access this area from N42 45.185, W073 40.234 by car or foot or from N42 46.391, W073 40.065 by foot only (occasionally by car but dont count on it). The first trail head is your best bet if you plan to drive to the IP. *****NOTE***** This area is ONLY open from 9am to 4:30pm daily. The gates will be locked at 4:30 so dont get trapped in there after 4:30 without telling the caretaker. The tree cover near the IP can mess with your readings but I'm sure most folks wont have any trouble locating the spot. After paying respects to this great American icon at the IP, Go approx 50ft on a bearing of 30deg (to the woodline). From there, go aprox 30ft on a bearing of 0 deg. You are there....cache is a well hidden 1 gal plastic container. I have loaded the cache with lots of patriotic American items such as: small American flags, flag pins, tattoos, patches, etc.... I have also included a "flag" camera in there for you to take pictures of yourself or the beautiful surroundings nearby. Please let me know if you took any pics so I can keep track of when I have to get it developed and replaced. It would be great to maintain the theme I started by having those making trades bring other unique patriotic items for the cache. Take time to walk or drive around the rest of this beautiful area and discover the manificent abundance of history that can be found here. There are so many military, political and social giants in this place that its hard to even count. Most of the original movers and shakers of this area of NY and elsewhere can be found here along with very unique and remarkable memorial architecture. Enjoy the time and thanks for checking out my first hidden cache. Let me know what you find.
