Description: A multi part virtual tour of historic Troy, New York followed by a regular cache at the end.
This is the first crypto cache for our area. In order to find the final real cache, you will need to locate the 13 virtual caches first and copy the appropriate letter down from the instructions of each virtual. These letters, put into the order you are told, will create a KEYWORD for the decryption of the cipher. This is a VIGENERE cipher and you can either manually use a Vigenere Square (Tableau) to decode the encrypted message or you can use one of several pieces of software and or websites that will decode it for you once you enter the proper keyword.
I hope you enjoy your tour of Troy and learn a few things along the way. There are so many more interesting and beautiful places to explore in this historic city so do this cache when you have plenty of time to take in the sights and maybe find some other places along the way to check out as well. It can be done anytime of year with each season offering its own unique experience at many of the various locations you will see.
I welcome pictures of your adventure as well but please do not post any pics that give any of the virtual answers away.
The following 13 virtual locations can be done in any order, however after you plot them all on a map, I’m sure you can figure out the best route to take so as to not have to backtrack several times. Most of the coordinates were taken from a car and put you close enough to each location as to best see the information you are looking for. For numbers 4, 7, 10, 12, & 13, I’d suggest parking and walking to those. Also the Troy Vistors Center is right in this area too with lots of great information and suggested tours of their own. Loads of other interesting places all around this great area! None of the coordinates will put you right on top of the virtual cache itself except the final location in the encrypted message.
