Description:
REVISITING THE LILY PAD

Here's a blast from the past! It sometimes happens in the kingdom of the god frog that perfectly good caches are put out of business by the petty and arrogant tyrants who run things. They don't mind alienating our best content providers (cache owners) to the point that they get fed up and quit so long as they get their due. It matters not to them that content is lost because it's not lost to them and nobody is the wiser. In the interest of expediency and keeping up appearances, they "archive" and "lock" their dirt under the carpet and then blame the cache owner who is left without any means to tell his side of the story. While this practice may be good for the business of geocaching, it's a disservice to everyone else. Unfortunately, nobody believes until it happens to them...

The Lily Pad was such cache. We can't know what happened with this here cache on account of the Ministry of Truth censoring things but suffice it to say that “The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site” jerked somebody around until a cache was lost. Or was it?

I revisited “The Lily Pad” the other day and found to my surprise that it's still alive and well. It's an "old school" kind of hide in a little-known county park that you probably wouldn't think to visit if there wasn't a cache there. I recall that this cache was more than just a cache in that it was stocked with traveling frogs that had their very own tracking website. The frogs are all gone and so too is the website but we still have the cache. I hope that Wes won't mind me listing it here. Cache on!
