Description: George Ivey Arboretum at Carolina Park
This is a very nice old park in downtown Hickory. There are over 300 trees labeled with their common and Latin names. I learn something every time I come here. Also, on most Sunday afternoons there is a very good bagpipe band practicing in the park. At the posted coordinates is a legend with the park divided into sections. Each section has a color, and each tree is numbered on the legend. To claim the cache find tree #161 and enter the first word of it's common name in the codeword box. There is parking along 3rd Street NE on the east side of the park. There are concrete walkways suitable for wheelchair access. Some assistance may be needed. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I do each time I come here. |
