Description:
This cache is located in Prince William County's Locust Shade Park. It was placed with permission of PWCPA.
The park lies along a narrow strip between I-95 and US Rte. 1. The southern two thirds of the park has trails and a pretty stream running through a mature, deciduous forest. The norther part of the park is home to a miniature golf course, a driving range, batting cages, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and an amphitheater.
At the north end of the park, you'll find a lake with a dock. Fishing and boating are allowed here, but you can't swim or ice skate. The lake is also where you'll find this cache. We suggest you park near N38°32.188' W77°20.876' and walk clockwise around the lake shore. You'll cross the inlet stream to the lake, probably passing some fishermen along the way. Look for wildlife as you go.
The cache is across from the boathouse and dock. It is a 35mm film can-sized container, not on the ground. There is a log sheet and pencil in the cache. It's too small for much swag, but there is one little item kids might like to take home. When you finish, continue around the lake, back to your car. |
