This is a Virtual cache. There is no container, you will need to retrieve code word from the point of interest as described below. This VIRTUAL is located on the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site managed by the National Park Service. Please stay on existing public trails while seeking the clues at the provided coordinates.

The overall 6 to 10 Trail extends from the community of Foot of Ten in Blair County to the Lemon House site at the crest of the Allegheny Front. While the first 4 miles follows a typical rail-trail format open to both hikers and bikers, the next 2.5+/- miles, climbing the Allegheny Front, is limited to hikers only.

To fully experience the obstruction the Allegheny Front posed to travelers in the mid-1800’s, it is recommended that you start your hike at the Muleshoe parking (40°26'6.93"N/ 78°31'15.03"W). The trail starts on the same side of the road and is fairly apparent. It begins by climbing Incline 8. For those comfortable with road biking, you may want to drop a bike at the Skew Arch parking (coords below) to ride back down and retrieve your car after the climb. Be cautious of traffic while crossing the eastbound lanes of old Route 22.

You will find a marker at the posted coordinates. You will need to find the last HORIZONTAL word on this marker to claim your find. Email this answer to us at or enter as secret code. Do not post in any logs.

For those not wishing to make the full climb, you can start at the Skew Arch parking at N 40° 27.192 W 078° 32.572 for a two mile round trip out and back hike. The trailhead is located just uphill from the parking area at N40° 27.183' W78° 32.656'. Be cautious of traffic.

This is Featured Cache #23 of the Cambria TRAILS Geotrail, which highlights the diverse TRAIL amenities of the area. Be sure to collect and record the Code Word from in (or near, in the case of micros) the cache to your official Passport, which can be obtained from the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. A map and list of all caches featured in the Geotrail can be found at the Geotrail page .
