RE: [gpsstash] New poll for gpsstash

I went in there and voted for a name change. Unfortunately the name "stash"
associated with people going around burying buckets in the wilderness
immediately brings up illegal associations. I like the Planeteering one,
sort of harmless and high tech.

Incidentelly I went to visit the stash that I set up two weeks ago. I don't
think I could have located it again without my GPS. You have to be virtually
standing next to it to see it. However it had been visited twice in that
time and I know of at least two others who are looking for it.

I did notice a bit of a problem with, what I thought, was a sealed bucket.
There was water in the bucket after some recent heavy rain. Everything was
in plastic bags so was dry, but I punched a couple of holes in the bottom of
the bucket to let any excess run out.

I said on this forum that I was going to set up a second stash last weekend.
However I decided against it because the area that I was planning to put it
in is a pristine scenic reserve and reasonably well visited, and I didn't
like the idea of leaving what could be interpreted by some people as trash.
However I still have it at my place and plan to set up the Southern
Hemisphere's "divine stash" in the next couple of weeks.

This whole idea is less than a month old and needs to get up to a critical
mass to be successful. I am overjoyed to find that there are other stashers
here in NZ and I plan to check out the Wainuiomata stash in the next couple
of weeks, so things are building up here. Only trouble is that I won't have
a car when I am there so I just hope it is near a bus route. Looking forward
to visiting the Auckland stash too when that happens.

One important thing that should be in the rules I think is that stashers
must take responsibility for their stashes and be prepared to remove them
and notify the various web sites if they turn out to be a flop and just
become litter.
