I appear to have been misunderstood :-)
I understand these arguments. I also understand that some people would prefer a newsgroup to what has evolved, but creating one will not undo what has evolved (thus will not solve the (alleged) problems it aims to correct but may incur the added cost of fragmentation).
I won't repeat the points of my first post except to say that I don't feel you have the interest of a large portion of the geocaching community. Therefore, I don't feel a newsgroup populated by the minority will be interesting, nor have the volume to justify itself.
Hey, I myself don't read certain fora for the reasons others have already elegantly pointed out. That does not change the thrust of my argument.
I guess the only way to prove me wrong is to create one :-) Like I said, I'm not against the idea -- I just assumed one had to justify that the volume would be there, and I do not believe anyone has.
