Obvioulsy finding the cache when the reporter is there would be
optimal, but since the hunt is the main objective, not the actual
find, it's really irrelevent whether or not you find the cache.
It might even add a more realistic angle on the story if the hunt is
unsuccessful, since many are.

You might want to plan a hunt which involves multiple caches in order
to increase your chances and/or provide the opportunity to locate one
you haven't been to yourself. That way it's a true hunt, versus
walking up to one who's location you already know.
