I've heard of one that some people took and kept for several years. Whenever they drove somewhere, they took him along. They would send a photo of it to the original owner with a note. Things like "Having a wonderful time, wish you were here." "Weather is great, can't wait to hit the beach tomorrow". After 4 or 5 years they put it back in the owners lawn, with a little suitcase of souvenirs and postcards! Its a great story, I don't know if its urban legend or true.
