Re: [gpsstash] Geocaching banned from public parks?

For some time now I've been thinking of another feature to the site for Jeremy to add, but I sort
of wanted
to wait until the "villifying Irish" thread was gone.

kind of a "legal status" page of various parks agencies, i.e. we know the NPS will remove any
caches placed on their
property, by extension I'm assuming National Recreation Area and National Seashores are both run by
the NPS - but I'm not sure
about National Forests - can someone clue me in?
And I remember something about Georgia State Parks saying no as well.

If there could be a page summarizing major park systems and their current stance on the game,
obviously not everything will
be or can be listed, but if not listed then assume "yes but be discreet". As an example for the
number of agencies - In Marin County alone that I know of, we have Open Space Rangers, NPS, Water
District, State Parks, County Sheriff, private landowners that allow public access, junior college
security, plus city police for any town parks. (I once attended a helicopter training class in the
headlands, about 40 people showed up, no more than three people wore the same uniform). All of
these will have different viewpoints plus differing levels of enforcement.

No way a single page could cover everything, but if a list could be made of all the agencies that
have officially said no and make a
point of aggresivley removing caches found on their property I think it would go a long way towards
keeping us on the good side.

Now if Jeremey has managed to withstand the last weeks attack with any morale left at all and still
bothers to read this list....
