Why not let them put together a cache and place it. They can film how they did that and the "art" of placing a cache. Then film you trying to find the one that they placed.
Would make an interesting twist that way and they can see how easy or hard it can be to find.

Maybe you could have a couple of caches of various difficulty levels for the crew to choose from, (depending on their time commitment). Also, it might be neat if you could get them to place a cache somewhere. They must have lots of promotional junk lying around. I could see it done as a postscript to the story and promoted on their web site.
