I like your arguments for "seek" but, if I was looking for a Geocaching
group on Usenet, I'd never think to look for 'alt.rec.seek'.

If we're just looking for a group name for geocaching, I'd recommend
'alt.rec.geocaching'; you can't get more clear than that.

If we want to expand the group's charter to include all gps-based games
(e.g. confluence hunting, geodashing, etc.) I'd recommend 'alt.rec.gps'.
Unfortunately, this leaves out the letterboxers, but they could always
create 'alt.rec.letterboxing' if they wanted...
