It's not *better* than GPX, it simply serves a different purpose. On a page with lost of coordinates, adding Geo-microformat ("Geo-uF") by wrapping them in plain HTML classes makes it possible for a parser to extract them in a number of formats, one of which might by GPX. There are a couple of people working on Geo-uF - GPX converters already, I believe.
